Fresh food is infused with fresh and lush design

Founded in 1994 by Sally Frank, the Melrose Farmers’ Market (MFM) has grown into a cornerstone of the local community. MFM partnered with me to refresh its visual identity and marketing materials to better reflect its evolving mission and diverse offerings. The goal was to create a unified, vibrant brand that celebrates fresh, local food while reinforcing the market’s commitment to community and food accessibility.

I collaborated closely with MFM’s Board of Directors and marketing team to define a creative direction that felt both fresh and timeless. The brand balances vibrancy with clarity—where saturated, painterly produce illustrations meet simple, friendly type, creating a look that’s joyful, inclusive, and unmistakably fresh. A clean, modern logo, bright watercolor depictions of fruits and vegetables paired with lively and fun iconography language captures the spirit of the community.

From seasonal to sustainable: A design system that is adapts and fuels impact

A flexible visual language was crafted to be adaptable to seasonal shifts and event-specific promotions. The MFM’s brand consistency was strengthened across digital and physical touchpoints with seasonal markets and year-round events such as Farm to Table Tastings, Winter Markets, and Urban Farm Tours. 

To support community engagement and donations, we developed targeted campaigns with messaging around food access and sustainability. Special attention was given to the SNAP Match program, ensuring all visual materials communicated the market’s inclusive mission. Beyond these fundraising efforts, branded merchandise were developed to generate revenue and extend brand visibility.
